COURSE CURRICULUM

The Associate of Science Degree requires the successful completion of a minimum of 60 credits that are recognized with assigned or unassigned credit at Simon Fraser University, the University of British Columbia, the University of Victoria, or the University of Northern British Columbia. Within these 60 credits, students must complete a minimum of 36 credits in science, which must include at least 3 credits in a laboratory science course and at least 18 credits in second-year science courses across two or more subject areas. Additionally, students must complete a minimum of 6 credits in mathematics, including at least one 3-credit course in Calculus. To support academic breadth and communication skills, students are also required to complete 6 credits of first-year English and 6 credits in first- or second-year arts courses other than English, excluding MATH and laboratory-based science courses. Furthermore, a minimum of 6 credits must be completed in first- or second-year university-transferable courses from arts, science, or other disciplines. These may include credits from career programs or from specific Kinesiology (KINS) and Recreation (RECR) offerings that are eligible for university transfer. To qualify for the Associate of Science credential, students must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 across all courses applied to the degree. This structured yet flexible program provides students with a broad foundation in science and the arts, preparing them for further academic studies or a range of professional pathways.
