COURSE CURRICULUM

Within the framework of the general requirements for the Associate of Arts Degree, students must complete a minimum of 60 credits, including specific courses in history and English. Students are required to take six history courses, totaling 18 credits. Among these, at least two courses must be at the 2000-level (numbered 2XXX), ensuring that students engage with more advanced and specialized historical topics. This progression allows students to build a solid foundation in history while also exploring more complex and detailed subjects. In addition to history courses, students must complete two English courses, totaling six credits. At least one of these English courses must be selected from the following options: ENGL 1100 (Reading and Writing about Literature), ENGL 1123 (Introduction to Academic Writing), ENGL 1127 (Essay Writing and Short Prose Selections), or ENGL 1128 (Short Prose Selections and Composition). These English courses focus on developing essential reading and writing skills, which are critical for academic success and effective communication. Together, the history and English requirements provide students with a well-rounded education that enhances their analytical, critical thinking, and communication abilities. This combination prepares students for further academic study or a variety of career paths by deepening their understanding of historical contexts and strengthening their written expression.
