COURSE CURRICULUM

The Power Engineering program is structured over two years and combines theoretical knowledge with practical, hands-on training. In Year I, students take a variety of foundational courses, starting with Technical Communications & Computers (offered online only), and Introduction to Engineering Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry. Other key subjects include Introduction to Electrical Theory & Instrumentation, Introduction to Boilers, Materials Welding & Communication, Safety and Environment, and Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning. Students also explore Refrigeration, Water Treatment & Plant Configurations, Advanced Boilers, Prime Movers, and Auxiliary Maintenance. Practical learning is emphasized through labs such as Elementary 4th Class Power Engineer Lab and Advanced 4th Class Power Engineering Lab, concluding the year with a Steam Practicum tailored to 4th Class Power Engineering. Credit values for these courses range from 2 to 4. In Year II, the focus shifts to 3rd Class Power Engineering certification. Students begin with Part A-1 and Part A-2, followed by two lab courses: Elementary 3rd Class Power Engineering Lab and Advanced 3rd Class Power Engineering Lab, offering in-depth technical experience. The year concludes with Part B-1 and Part B-2 of the 3rd Class Power Engineering theory. Each of these advanced courses is designed to prepare students for certification and real-world industry demands, with credit weights varying from 4 to 6 credits.
