COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Agriculture Technology program at Lakeland College features a comprehensive two-year curriculum that integrates advanced agricultural science, business management, and precision technology. In Year 1, students complete 30 credits across core subjects that emphasize both practical and analytical skills essential for modern agribusiness. Courses such as Economics of Precision Agriculture, Advanced Farm and Ag Business Management, and Sustainable Farm Businesses develop strategic and financial insight, while Advanced Livestock Production and Advanced Agronomy strengthen expertise in production systems. Innovation Leadership in Agriculture prepares students to drive technological change, and specialized technical courses like Precision Farming Global Positioning Essentials, Machine Control and Inter-Component Communication Systems, GIS for Agricultural Decision Making, and Remote Sensing for Decision Making equip learners with digital tools used across the agri-tech industry. In Year 2, students complete two intensive field-based practicums—Bachelor of Agriculture Technology Practicum I and II—providing hands-on experience with advanced farming technologies and operational management. Additionally, students select an elective in Humanities, Sociology, Arts, or Psychology to broaden their perspective and communication skills. With a total of 33 credits in the second year, the curriculum balances technology, sustainability, and leadership, preparing graduates for high-demand roles in precision agriculture, agri-business management, and sustainable farm innovation.
