Applied Social Research Methods (SOWK 5511) covers qualitative and quantitative research methods, ethics, and politics of knowledge, supporting students in initiating their master’s project or thesis. Social Work Theory for Advanced Generalist Practice (SOWK 5514) reviews diverse theoretical frameworks relevant to clinical, community, and policy-oriented practice. The Field Practicum (SOWK 5601) provides hands-on experience with 450 hours of practical application in students’ chosen concentration, graded pass/fail. The Master’s Project (SOWK 5801) involves a focused review and analysis of existing knowledge on a chosen topic, potentially producing policy analysis, program development, or practice models. The Master’s Thesis (SOWK 5901) requires extensive original research and contributes scholarly knowledge to social work, supervised by a committee, and carries a higher credit weight.
