COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Nursing with Nurse Practitioner Specialization is a six-credit program designed to prepare students for advanced practice roles. All students complete 2.0 Full Course Equivalents (FCE) of core graduate nursing courses, which include Nursing 5015 Nursing Philosophy, Nursing 5016 Qualitative Research, Nursing 5017 Statistics, and Nursing 5018 Quantitative Research, each worth 0.5 FCE. After completing the core courses, students move on to the Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner Specialization, comprising 4.0 FCE. This specialization includes Nursing 5610 Pathophysiology for the Nurse Practitioner, Nursing 5615 and 5616 Advanced Health Assessment and Diagnosis I and II, Nursing 5630 Nurse Practitioner Roles and Responsibilities, Nursing 5635 and 5636 Therapeutics I and II, and Nursing 5840 Integrative Practicum. Each of these courses, except the practicum, carries 0.5 FCE, with the practicum worth 1.0 FCE. The specialization offers a comprehensive curriculum combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills essential for Nurse Practitioners. Students gain expertise in pathophysiology, advanced health assessments, therapeutics, and the roles and responsibilities of Nurse Practitioners. The integrative practicum provides hands-on clinical experience, allowing students to apply their knowledge in real-world healthcare settings.
