COURSE CURRICULUM

The Graduate Diploma in Professional Kinesiology at Lakehead University is a 12-month, full-time program designed to provide advanced clinical and professional training for current and aspiring Kinesiologists. Beginning each September, the program combines theoretical and hands-on learning to prepare students to work within the defined scope of kinesiology practice. It includes four consecutive online courses and four intensive 5-day on-site practical courses held at the Thunder Bay campus, offering flexibility for students who may live outside the area or wish to maintain employment during their studies. A key component of the program is a 200-hour practicum placement, which can be completed locally, nationally, or internationally, provided an appropriate setting and supervisor are secured. The curriculum focuses on advanced clinical assessment, exercise prescription for both healthy populations and those with chronic conditions, and professional topics such as ergonomics, disability management, business practices, ethics, and risk management in the field of kinesiology.
