COURSE CURRICULUM

The Physics program offers a structured four-year curriculum designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of fundamental and advanced physical principles. In the first year, students take core courses including Physics 1211 and 1212, Mathematics 1171 and 1172, Chemistry 1110 and 1130, along with one FCE elective, a half FCE from the Type E course list, and Computer Science 0411 or 1411. The second year builds on this foundation with courses such as Physics 2111, 2211, 2311, 2331, and 2332, accompanied by either Physics 2151 or a half FCE elective, Mathematics 2070, 2111, and 2131, plus an additional half FCE elective. In the third year, students complete the Physics 2151 course if not taken previously, followed by advanced courses like Physics 3113, 3211, and 3231, along with Physics 4113 or 4171, Physics 3371 or a half FCE elective, and Mathematics 3131 and 3133, plus one half FCE elective. The fourth year focuses on specialized physics topics with courses such as Physics 4115, 4211, 4411, and 4412, alongside completing either Physics 4113 or 4171 and Physics 3371 or a half FCE elective not previously taken, a half FCE in Physics at the upper levels, and one and a half FCE electives. This curriculum is designed to ensure students develop strong analytical, mathematical, and experimental skills, preparing them for careers in research, industry, education, or further graduate studies in physics or related fields.
