COURSE CURRICULUM

The Honours Bachelor of Music is a four-year program that offers students a comprehensive education in music theory, history, and performance, preparing them for professional careers or graduate studies in music. In the first year, students take Music 1312 and 1313, Music 1350 and 1351, Music Performance: Primary I, Music 1318 and 1333, and one full course equivalent (FCE) elective from Type A or B courses. The second year includes Music 2314 and 2315, Music 2350 and 2351, Music Performance: Primary II, Music 2333 and one of Music 2331, 2332, or 2334, along with one FCE from Type B courses. In the third year, students choose two of Music 3313, 3316, or 3317; complete Music 3371 and either Music 3372 or 3375; continue with Music Performance: Primary III or Music 3800; and complete Music Performance: Secondary II, Music 3333 and one of Music 3331, 3332, or 3334, and Music 3318. In the final year, students select one FCE from Music 4312, 4313, 4314, 4315, 4319, or 4915; complete Music Performance: Primary IV or Music 4800; choose between Music 4301 or one FCE elective in Music; take one of Music 4331, 4332, 4333, or 4334; one FCE elective (which must be a Type B course if not taken in the first year); and one-half FCE elective from Type E courses. This well-rounded curriculum ensures students graduate with strong academic and performance skills in preparation for diverse careers in music.
