COURSE CURRICULUM

The Criminology program requires students to complete 20 full course equivalents (FCEs) over four years, including specific distribution requirements: at least three FCEs in Type A (Humanities) or Type B (Social Sciences), three FCEs in Type C (Engineering, Mathematical, and Natural Sciences) or Type D (Health and Behavioural Sciences), and a minimum of 0.5 FCE in Type E courses, which also fulfills the Indigenous Content Requirement. It is recommended that students take Criminology 3510 or Political Science 3351 to meet this requirement. In the first year, students complete half an FCE in Interdisciplinary Studies, Criminology 1010 and 1030, one course from Political Science, Psychology, or Sociology, and two and a half FCE electives while adhering to the distribution requirements. The second year includes one FCE in Criminology, one FCE from Psychology, Sociology, or Political Science, Criminology 2015 and 2090, Interdisciplinary Studies 2030, and one and a half FCE electives, all maintaining the course-type requirements. The third year requires two FCEs from upper-level Criminology, Political Science 3314, or Sociology 3811, half an FCE in Interdisciplinary Studies, and two and a half FCE electives at the second year level or above, with Criminology 3510 or Political Science 3351 recommended. In the fourth year, students complete one FCE from fourth-year Criminology or Sociology 4250, another FCE in fourth-year Criminology or Interdisciplinary Studies 4901, Criminology 4035 Field Exposure, and two and a half FCE electives at the third or fourth-year level, fulfilling all program and Indigenous content requirements.
