COURSE CURRICULUM

The Political Science program begins with a first-year curriculum that includes Political Science 1100, two FCEs from Type A courses, one FCE from Type B courses, and one elective, providing a foundational understanding of political concepts and systems. In the second year, students take Political Science 2110 alongside two and one-half FCEs in second-year Political Science courses, with two additional electives chosen in consultation with the department, one of which may be in Political Science, allowing for more focused study. The third year offers two FCEs in Political Science at the third or fourth-year level, with the option to take advanced fourth-year courses upon departmental approval, complemented by three electives, no more than two of which can be Political Science courses. The program culminates in the fourth year with Political Science 4110, plus two and one-half FCEs in fourth-year Political Science courses, where students are strongly encouraged to enroll in Political Science 4111 and 4112 to deepen their expertise. Additionally, students complete two department-approved electives, enabling them to tailor their education to their interests and career goals. Throughout the program, students develop analytical skills and a comprehensive understanding of political theory, systems, and practices, preparing them for diverse career paths in government, public policy, law, and academia.
