COURSE CURRICULUM

The program’s first year includes foundational courses such as Indigenous Learning 1100, English 1116, and a half FCE in English chosen from options like English 1015, 1016, or 1115. Students also complete one full FCE in an Indigenous Language, choosing from combinations of Cree or Ojibwe language courses, alongside one FCE in a second teachable subject, with additional language courses required if the second teachable is Indigenous Language or French. A half FCE elective in Type B courses or French language (if French is the second teachable) is included, along with Education 1410. In the second year, students take Indigenous Learning 2805, 1310, and 2012, plus one half FCE in Indigenous Learning at the second-year level, English 2717 or Indigenous Learning 2717, and a half FCE in English chosen from advanced English courses. One FCE in the second teachable is required, with specific language courses if the second teachable is Indigenous Language or French, and Education 2130 is also included, with at least one elective from Type B courses. The third year involves one and a half FCEs in Indigenous Learning (with at least one at the third-year level), a half FCE at the fourth-year level, and two FCEs in the second teachable, with Ojibwe or French courses depending on the teachable. Students also take half an FCE in Aboriginal Education and a half FCE elective or French language course if applicable. The fourth year is the first professional year, with core Education courses (4350, 4351, 4354, 4355, 4398) and curriculum and instruction courses for the Intermediate-Senior division, including Education 4223 and a second teachable course selected from a list of Education courses, each worth 1.0 FCE.
