COURSE CURRICULUM

The Honours Bachelor of Arts in History Major is a four-year program offered at both the Thunder Bay and Orillia campuses. Students may enter the Honours program after their first, second, or third year, provided they have achieved a B average in their History courses. To continue, students must maintain at least a 70% average in History courses. Those planning to pursue graduate studies are encouraged to include courses in a second language. The program includes an Indigenous Content Requirement fulfilled by a half course from designated Type E courses. In the first year, students take introductory History alongside courses from Type A, Type B, and electives. The second and third years focus on advanced History courses combined with electives outside of History. In the fourth year, students complete three History courses and two electives. There is also a four-year non-direct entry option for students who do not meet the Honours program requirements but wish to continue, which requires maintaining a 60% average in History courses. The course structure for this option mirrors the Honours program, including a mix of introductory and advanced History courses, and electives. This program provides a comprehensive foundation in historical studies with flexibility to explore interdisciplinary interests while maintaining academic standards essential for advancement.
