COURSE CURRICULUM

The Post Baccalaureate Diploma in Technical Apparel Design requires the successful completion of 36 credits across four semesters, maintaining a minimum program GPA of 2.5. In Year 1, students begin in the Fall term with foundational courses including Technical Apparel in Context (DETA 5110), Technical Textile Technologies (DETA 5120), and Introduction to Technical Apparel Production (DETA 5140), each worth 3 credits. The Spring term builds on these foundations with User Research for Technical Apparel (DETA 5210), Strategic Design Innovation (DETA 5230), and Technical Drawing for Product Development (DETA 5240), also 3 credits each, totaling 9 credits per term. In Year 2, the Fall term advances into the business and production aspects of the field, with Business Strategies for Technical Apparel (DETA 5200), Technical Apparel Production (DETA 5440), and Capstone Research (DETA 5980), all 3-credit courses. The final Spring term offers a comprehensive industry-focused experience with Technical Apparel Industry Experience (DETA 5550), a 3-credit course that allows students to apply their knowledge in a real-world setting, and Capstone Development and Production (DETA 5985), a 6-credit course where students synthesize their learning into a final, innovative project. The curriculum is designed to provide a thorough understanding of the technical apparel industry, combining applied skills in research, product development, and innovation with strategic business knowledge. Students graduate equipped with practical experience, a completed capstone project, and a strong portfolio, ready to enter or advance in the technical apparel industry.
