COURSE CURRICULUM

The Diploma in Front-End Development for Interactive Applications at KPU requires the completion of 60 credits over two years, with courses structured across four terms. In the first term, students build foundational skills with courses like Web Development Foundations, Web Systems Development Methodologies, Design Foundations for Interactive Applications, User Interface (UI) Foundations, and User Experience (UX) Foundations, totaling 15 credits. The second term continues to develop technical and design abilities through Front-End Web Programming, Back-End Web Programming, Front-End Development Frameworks and Libraries I, Design Systems for Interactive Applications, and Responsive Design: Principles and Prototyping, adding another 15 credits. In the third term, students deepen their expertise with Front-End Development Frameworks and Libraries II, Project Management and Performance, Web Applications Development Project, Motion Design for Interactive Applications, and Design and Development Integration Studio, again earning 15 credits. The final term focuses on advanced and specialized topics including Special Topics in Web Development, Professional Development, Data Visualization for Interactive Applications, and a comprehensive Design and Development Capstone project worth 6 credits, summing up to 15 credits. Throughout the program, students are introduced to both front-end and back-end web development, responsive design principles, UI/UX fundamentals, and integration of design with development practices. The curriculum also emphasizes professional growth through project management and career preparation. Tuition fees are assessed according to specific categories for Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and international students.
