COURSE CURRICULUM

The Fine Arts Diploma program at KPU requires students to complete a total of 60 credits, which can be earned on either a full-time or part-time basis, offering flexibility to accommodate different schedules. To fulfill the diploma requirements, students must complete 6 credits of Art History (ARTH) courses, providing a historical and theoretical understanding of visual arts that complements their practical training. Additionally, 48 credits must be earned in Fine Arts (FINA) courses, which focus on the development of technical skills and creative expression across various media such as painting, drawing, ceramics, photography, print media, sculpture, and digital media. These courses enable students to build a strong artistic foundation and develop their personal style. The remaining 6 credits are designated as additional academic credits, allowing students to broaden their knowledge base and support their artistic practice with complementary academic studies. While not mandatory for admission, ENGL 1100 (Introduction to University Writing) is highly recommended as it serves as a prerequisite for some Fine Arts and Art History courses. Taking this course early can help students improve their academic writing skills, which are important for research papers, project documentation, and communication in higher-level courses.
