COURSE CURRICULUM

The Diploma in English Language Proficiency at KPU consists of a comprehensive 60-credit curriculum designed to develop academic English skills for students learning English as an additional language. The program is structured across four levels, starting with the Foundation Level, which includes courses such as English for Academic Purposes Foundations and Foundation Level Listening and Speaking, along with Intermediate Pronunciation to build essential communication skills. Level 1 advances students’ academic English through courses in English for Academic Purposes, Academic Listening and Speaking Skills, and a choice between Intermediate Pronunciation or Grammar I, allowing learners to focus on areas needing improvement. Level 2 further develops proficiency with English for Academic Purposes and Listening and Speaking Skills, complemented by two elective courses that may include university-level classes, Advanced Pronunciation, or Grammar II, supporting language mastery and academic readiness. Level 3 completes the program with advanced courses in English for Academic Purposes and Academic Listening and Speaking Skills, plus the option to select 6 credits from university-level courses, Advanced Pronunciation, or Grammar II, helping students refine their skills for academic success. Throughout the diploma, students engage in a balanced mix of speaking, listening, reading, writing, and grammar instruction to prepare them for university studies or professional careers. This structured progression ensures that graduates are well-equipped with the academic English proficiency needed to thrive in higher education or workplace environments.
