COURSE CURRICULUM

The Advanced VFX (Virtual Production) program at KPU is a rigorous, full-time, two-year cohort diploma requiring the successful completion of 96 credits with a minimum grade of C in all courses. The curriculum is structured over six terms, beginning in Term 1 with foundational courses including Animation Principles for VFX (ENTA 1110), Cinematography for VFX (ENTA 1112), Photography for VFX (ENTA 1113), and Introduction to 3D in Entertainment Arts (ENTA 1121). In Term 2, students build on this foundation through Introduction to Compositing for VFX (ENTA 1211), Data Acquisition (ENTA 1212), Preproduction and Production Principles (ENTA 1213), and Modelling (ENTA 1221). Term 3 focuses on intermediate skills with courses such as Intermediate Compositing (ENTA 1311), Introduction to Lighting (ENTA 1312), Intermediate Modelling (ENTA 1321), and Industry Preparation (ENTA 1323). Term 4 introduces more specialized topics, including Scripting for VFX (ENTA 2110), Matte Painting (ENTA 2111), Introduction to FX (ENTA 2112), and Intermediate Lighting (ENTA 2113). In Term 5, students tackle advanced skills with courses like 3D Matchmove (ENTA 2210), Advanced Compositing (ENTA 2211), Intermediate FX (ENTA 2212), and Advanced Lighting (ENTA 2213). The final term culminates in a capstone project composed of VFX Project: Preproduction (ENTA 2311), Production (ENTA 2312), Production Finals (ENTA 2313), and VFX Portfolio (ENTA 2314), where students compile and present a demo reel of VFX shots. This comprehensive curriculum ensures students are artistically and technically prepared for roles in both traditional VFX and virtual production environments.
