COURSE CURRICULUM

The Advanced Game Development program at KPU requires students to complete 96 credits across six terms, with a minimum grade of C in all courses. This full-time, two-year, cohort-based program provides a comprehensive, hands-on education across the core disciplines of game development: design, art, programming, and production. In Term 1, students are introduced to foundational topics through Game Design (ENTA 1130), Technical Design (ENTA 1131), Environment Art (ENTA 1132), and Introduction to Game Programming (ENTA 1133). Term 2 advances these skills with courses like Level Design (ENTA 1230), Visual Scripting (ENTA 1231), Character Art (ENTA 1232), and Intermediate Game Programming (ENTA 1233). Term 3 focuses on UI and UX Design (ENTA 1330), Rapid Prototyping (ENTA 1331), Character Animation (ENTA 1332), and Advanced Game Programming (ENTA 1333). In Term 4, students deepen their specialization with Systems Design (ENTA 2130), Introduction to Rapid Game Development (ENTA 2131), Technical Art (ENTA 2132), and Shaders and Rendering (ENTA 2133). Term 5 emphasizes storytelling, procedural workflows, and emerging technologies through Narrative Design (ENTA 2230), Advanced Rapid Game Development (ENTA 2231), Procedural Art (ENTA 2232), and Developing for XR (ENTA 2233). The final term is dedicated to a comprehensive capstone project, comprising Preproduction (ENTA 2331), First Production (ENTA 2332), Final Production (ENTA 2333), and Portfolio development (ENTA 2334). This rigorous curriculum equips students with a solid technical foundation, industry-standard tools, collaborative experience, and a polished portfolio, preparing them for a range of careers in the dynamic field of game development.
