COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Technology in Information Technology (BTech in IT) degree requires a minimum of 120 credits, with an optional Co-operative Education stream adding 28 additional credits. The program provides a strong foundation in IT principles, programming, networking, and security, along with business and communication skills essential for success in the tech industry. In the first year, students complete courses in business mathematics or calculus, statistics, introductory computer hardware and software, programming, systems analysis, networking, web development, discrete mathematics, and formal logic. The second year builds on this foundation with courses in business fundamentals, professional communication, advanced networking, database systems, programming, computer security, system development, and server operating systems. The third year focuses on core IT topics such as professional communications, object-oriented software engineering, content management, and project management. Students also choose four electives from advanced web development, system security, wireless networks, software quality assurance, mobile programming, and networking technologies, among others, along with ethics and breadth electives outside of computer science. In the final year, students complete integration projects, entrepreneurial development, and five advanced electives covering areas like cloud computing, digital forensics, security, data mining, and the Internet of Things. Two more breadth electives outside of IT complete the curriculum. This comprehensive program prepares graduates for diverse IT careers or further study.
