COURSE CURRICULUM

The Physics for Modern Technology Major requires students to complete a minimum of 126 credits, meeting specific curricular standards including 120 credits at the 1100 level or higher, and 45 credits from 3000-level courses or above, with at least 9 credits at the 4000 level. Students must also complete 18 credits of breadth electives, with at least 12 credits outside the Faculty of Science and up to 6 credits from other science fields not included in the major. A cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher is required, with at least 50% of all courses and 66% of upper-level courses completed at KPU. The program’s course plan spans four years, starting with foundational courses such as Physics for Life Sciences or Physical and Applied Sciences, introduction to programming, chemistry, calculus, and university writing in the first year. The second year deepens understanding with modern physics, thermal physics, experimental physics, electricity and magnetism, and additional math and electives. The third year focuses on applied topics including control, optics, electronics, and project work, alongside business electives and analytical chemistry. In the final year, students undertake advanced courses like quantum mechanics, programming for instrumentation, solid-state physics, and instrumental analysis, plus senior projects and work experience components to provide practical skills. The program blends core physics theory with hands-on technical training, programming, and industry experience, equipping graduates with the skills needed for careers in green energy, robotics, electronics, industrial control, and related fields.
