COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Applied Psychology at KPU requires students to complete a minimum of 127 credits, including 36 credits at the 3000 or 4000 level, with at least 9 credits at the 4000 level. The program emphasizes a strong foundation in psychology, requiring 33 credits in PSYC courses, alongside 6 credits in mathematics and 30 credits in biology, chemistry, or physics. Students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher and complete at least 32 credits, including 16 upper-level psychology credits, at KPU. The curriculum begins with essential science courses such as Introductory Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, along with foundational psychology courses like Introduction to Psychology and Social Psychology. At the 2000 level, students take courses including Cell Biology, Organic Chemistry, Applied Statistics, Brain and Behaviour, and Research Methods. Advanced coursework at the 3000 and 4000 levels covers specialized topics such as Technical Report Writing, Practicum in Psychology, Culture and Psychology, and various courses in research methodology, biological psychology, clinical and health psychology, and applied psychology. Students must select courses from categories including statistics and research methods, biological psychology, clinical and health psychology, and applied psychology to deepen their knowledge. Additionally, 27 elective credits allow students to explore other interests while meeting core requirements. This comprehensive program equips students with theoretical knowledge, research skills, and practical experience, preparing them for diverse careers or graduate studies in psychology and related fields.
