COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Interior Design program requires students to complete 124 credits of coursework, with a minimum grade of C+ in all Studio courses to graduate. Proficiency in AutoCAD is recommended before entering the second year, and students should complete ENGL 1100 prior to starting second-year studies. The program is structured over eight semesters, integrating design studios, building technologies, design communication, construction documentation, and professional practice courses. In the first year, students complete foundational courses such as Studio 1 and 2, Building Technologies, Design Awareness, Construction Documentation, and Introduction to University Writing, totaling 34 credits. The second year advances skills with Studio 3 and 4, further Building Technologies, Design Communication, Human Factors, and a Writing Intensive General Education elective, focusing on technical proficiency and human-centered design principles. Year three continues with Studio 5 and 6, Design Communication, Building Technologies, and General Education electives, including a unique Design Field School that offers practical, experiential learning. In the final year, students complete advanced Studio courses 7 and 8, alongside Business and Professional Practice courses that prepare them for industry entry. The curriculum also incorporates multiple General Education electives to enhance critical thinking, communication, and professional skills. This well-rounded program ensures graduates are prepared with the technical knowledge, design expertise, and professional competencies necessary to succeed in the interior design field.
