COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Design in Fashion and Technology program consists of 120 credits completed over eight full-time semesters within four years. Students may take electives and general education courses before or during the program. Transfer students have the option to take some lower-level courses in their third year, and transfer credits from other institutions may apply toward elective requirements in the third and fourth years, with credit assessments done individually. The first year includes foundational courses such as fundamentals of apparel design, apparel industry overview, apparel pattern drafting and construction, and an introduction to professional communication and marketing. In the second year, students study fashion design theory, global dress history, style production, textiles and technology, and marketing fundamentals, alongside university writing. The third year covers surface design, apparel product development, advanced technical apparel design, digital clothing for diverse body types, manufacturing methodology, industry experience, draping methodology, and innovative apparel practices, including electives. The final year focuses on collection design development, apparel in the global market, advanced digital communication, professional promotion, and production of a final collection, along with electives. This comprehensive curriculum blends creative design, technical skills, digital communication, and industry experience to prepare students for careers in the global fashion industry, ensuring they graduate with both practical knowledge and the ability to innovate in the field.
