COURSE CURRICULUM

The General Science Certificate at Keyano College requires the completion of 30 credits, typically achieved through 10 courses that can be completed full-time over two terms or part-time for added flexibility. The program structure ensures a balanced and comprehensive understanding of scientific disciplines, beginning with at least 15 credits in General Science. Within this core, students complete six credits in Physical Sciences—choosing from courses such as Chemistry (CHEM 101, 102, 261, 263), Biochemistry (BIOCH 200), or Physics (PHYS 124, 126)—and six credits in Other Sciences, including Biology (BIOL 107, 108, 207, 208), Earth and Atmospheric Sciences (EAS 100, 105, 208), Soils (SOILS 210), or Nutrition (NUTR 100). Additionally, three credits in Mathematical Sciences are required, with options such as Mathematics (MATH 1113, 1115, 1120), Statistics (STAT 151), or Computing Science (COMSC 101, 174, 175). Students must also complete a minimum of three credits in English, selecting from courses like ENGL 103, 104, 125, 221, or 289, to strengthen academic communication skills. The remaining 12 credits come from approved electives in Sciences, Social Sciences, or Humanities, allowing for personalized academic exploration. An optional three-credit Work-Integrated Learning placement in the Spring term provides hands-on industry experience for eligible students.
