COURSE CURRICULUM

The Business Insights and Analytics graduate certificate program spans four semesters and provides a comprehensive, hands-on curriculum designed to prepare students for data-driven roles across industries. In Semester 1, students are introduced to the foundations of analytics with courses such as BIA 5000: Introduction to Business Insights and Analytics, BIA 5001: Introduction to Statistical Software Languages, BIA 5002: Introduction to Database and SQL, BUS 5100: Canadian Business and Industry, and RSMT 5004: Quantitative Research Methods and Analysis. Students also choose one elective from either the marketing or operations stream. In Semester 2, students expand their skills with ACCT 5507: Managerial Accounting and Finance, BIA 5201: Data Analytics Tools 1, BIA 5203: Big Data 1, and BIA 5204: Database Management and Reporting, along with WORK 5450: Career Development. They continue with a second elective in their chosen stream. Semester 3 delves into ethical and advanced technical aspects of analytics, featuring BIA 5200: Governance & Ethics in Data Analytics, BIA 5300: Predictive Analytics, BIA 5301: Data Analytics Tools 2, BIA 5302: Machine Learning and Programming 1, and BIA 5303: Big Data 2, along with a third marketing or operations elective. The final semester focuses on professional application with BIA 5400: Communication & Data Visualization, BIA 5401: Business Intelligence, BIA 5402: Machine Learning and Programming 2, BIA 5450: Capstone Course, BUS 5003: Project Management, and WORK 5550: Field Experience. This structured progression ensures graduates are industry-ready with technical expertise, strategic thinking, and real-world experience.
