COURSE CURRICULUM

The Virtual Production Ontario Graduate Certificate program is structured over two semesters, combining in-person, hybrid, and online delivery formats to provide a comprehensive, hands-on learning experience. In Semester 1, students are introduced to foundational concepts in Introduction to Virtual Production (VPRO 5000), delivered online, and begin applying their skills in the Virtual Production Project (VPRO 5001), a hybrid course focused on collaborative, project-based learning. In-Camera VFX (ICVFX) 1 (VPRO 5002), held in-person, provides hands-on training with LED volume technology and real-time visual effects, while Unreal Engine 1 (VPRO 5003) introduces students to industry-standard game engine workflows in a hybrid format. Pipeline Management (VPRO 5004) rounds out the semester with a focus on managing the complex workflows and data integration across the VP production process. In Semester 2, the Virtual Production Capstone (VPRO 5500) allows students to synthesize their learning in a major project, showcasing their technical and creative abilities. Special Topics in Virtual Production (VPRO 5501) explores current innovations and trends in the rapidly evolving VP landscape. In-Camera VFX (ICVFX) 2 (VPRO 5502) builds on earlier skills with more advanced visual effects work, while Unreal Engine 2 (VPRO 5503) deepens students’ real-time 3D development abilities. The Business of Virtual Production (VPRO 5504), delivered online, equips students with the knowledge to navigate the commercial and entrepreneurial aspects of the industry. By the end of the program, students are prepared to enter the field of virtual production with a strong portfolio and versatile, in-demand skills.
