COURSE CURRICULUM

The Project Management – Information Technology Ontario Graduate Certificate program is structured over two semesters, combining in-person and online learning options to provide flexibility and comprehensive coverage of essential project management skills. In Semester 1, students begin with Principles of Project Management (PMPG 5000) and Project Scope, Requirements, and Quality Assurance (PMPG 5001), laying the groundwork for understanding project fundamentals, scope definition, and maintaining quality standards. Career Development and Stakeholder Management (PMPG 5007) focuses on professional growth and effective communication with project stakeholders. Students are introduced to IT Product Management and Agile Frameworks (PMPG 5009), gaining insight into agile methodologies that are widely used in IT projects. Financial Analysis and Cost Management (PMPG 5013) teaches budget planning and control, while Project Scheduling (PMPG 5014) covers time management and resource allocation critical to successful project delivery. In Semester 2, learners advance to Procurement and Contract Management (PMPG 5012), essential for managing vendor relationships and contracts. Project Risk Management (PMPG 5500) emphasizes identifying and mitigating risks to minimize project disruptions. Organizational Principles, Behavior, and Change (PMPG 5507) explores the human and structural factors influencing project success. The program culminates in a Capstone Industry Project Research course (PMPG 5513), where students apply their knowledge to a real-world IT project and provide strategic recommendations. Additionally, Strategic Portfolio Management (PMPG 5555) and Agile Project Management (PMPG 5559) deepen understanding of managing multiple projects and agile practices, preparing graduates to lead IT projects effectively in dynamic environments.
