COURSE CURRICULUM

The Forensic Identification graduate certificate program at Humber is delivered over two in-person semesters at the Lakeshore campus, offering immersive, hands-on training in the science and practice of forensic investigation. In Semester 1, students build foundational skills through courses such as Introduction to Criminal Investigation (FID 5000), Crime Scene Management (FID 5001), Digital and Video Photography (FID 5002), Fingerprint Development and Analysis (FID 5003), Physical Matching (FID 5004), and Crime Scene Mapping (FID 5502). These courses equip students with essential knowledge in handling, documenting, and analyzing physical evidence at crime scenes. Semester 2 delves deeper into specialized forensic techniques with courses including DNA and Blood Profiling (FID 5005), Disaster Scene Management (FID 5500), Advanced Friction Ridge Development (FID 5501), and Forensic Technologies (FID 5507), providing advanced training in biological evidence handling and emerging forensic tools. Students also develop courtroom readiness through Court Preparation and Testimony (FID 5505) and gain critical insights into complex investigations in Death Investigations (FID 5506). Learning takes place in Humber’s state-of-the-art forensic lab and crime scene simulation studio, enabling students to practice real-world techniques and build confidence. This rigorous, practice-based curriculum prepares graduates for careers in forensic identification units, law enforcement, and investigative agencies.
