COURSE CURRICULUM

The Clinical Bioinformatics graduate certificate program spans two semesters, offering a combination of in-person and online courses to accommodate diverse learning preferences. In Semester 1, students build foundational knowledge with courses such as Introduction to Omics (BINF 5001) and Computational Tools and Methods (BINF 5002), both fully online. Data Mining, Modeling and Biostatistics (BINF 5003) and Introduction to Python for Bioinformatics (BINF 5007) are available both in-person and online, providing hands-on technical skills. Professional Development (BINF 5008) is also offered online to support career readiness. Semester 2 focuses on advanced topics, including Bioinformatics and Precision Medicine (BINF 5501), Data Analytics and Storytelling (BINF 5503), and Applied Clinical Genomics (BINF 5505), blending in-person and online delivery. Students further explore Bioinformatics and Cloud Computing for Advanced Data Integration and Management (BINF 5506) and Machine Learning and AI for Bioinformatics (BINF 5507). To complete the program, students must choose between a Field Experience in Clinical Bioinformatics (BINF 5504) or a Capstone project (BINF 5520), both offered online. This structure ensures students gain a strong theoretical foundation, practical skills in programming and data analysis, and real-world experience, equipping them for careers in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and research institutions focused on bioinformatics and precision medicine.
