COURSE CURRICULUM

The Web Development graduate certificate program spans three semesters and integrates in-person, hybrid, and online learning to equip students with a well-rounded, practical education in modern web technologies. In Semester 1, students are introduced to the foundational concepts through courses like Introduction to Web Development (HTTP 5110), Web Design (HTTP 5121), Front-End Web Development (HTTP 5122), and Back-End Web Development 1 (HTTP 5125), while also gaining skills in Database Design and Development (HTTP 5126). Special Topics in Web Development 1 (HTTP 5113) and Workshops in Web Development 1 (HTTP 5114) provide opportunities to explore current trends and refine technical skills. Courses like Introduction to Design for Interaction (IXD 5106) and Product Management (IXD 5206) enhance understanding of UX principles and project planning. In Semester 2, students advance into more complex subjects with Security and Usability (HTTP 5221), Full-Stack Web Development (HTTP 5222), Back-End Web Development 2 (HTTP 5226), and a major Web Development Project (HTTP 5225). Special Topics 2 (HTTP 5213) and Workshops 2 (HTTP 5214) continue to focus on evolving industry tools and best practices. Interaction Design Studio 1 and 2 (IXD 5105 and IXD 5205) and Professional Practice (IXD 5200) build teamwork, communication, and client-based design skills. In the final semester, students participate in a Field Experience (HTTP 5300), applying their knowledge in real-world settings, and complete a Capstone project (HTTP 5310), showcasing their full range of competencies. By program end, students will have developed a strong personal portfolio and be prepared for careers in web development and digital design.
