COURSE CURRICULUM

The User Experience (UX) Design graduate certificate program spans three semesters and is delivered through a combination of in-person, hybrid, and online courses, providing a comprehensive and practical foundation in UX design. In Semester 1, students are introduced to fundamental concepts through courses such as Introduction to Design for Interaction (IXD 5106), Product Management (IXD 5206), and Introduction to User Experience Design (UXD 5110). Core topics like Information Architecture (UXD 5121), Interaction Design (UXD 5122), Design Research (UXD 5123), and Usability Testing (UXD 5124) provide students with hands-on experience in building user-centered products. Special Topics in User Experience Design 1 (UXD 5113) offers hybrid learning focused on current trends in the field. In Semester 2, the learning becomes more advanced and application-based with two studio courses—Interaction Design Studio 1 (IXD 5105) and Studio 2 (IXD 5205)—that allow students to collaborate and solve real-world design problems. Courses such as Product Design (UXD 5221), Ethnography & Co-Creation (UXD 5222), and Service Design (UXD 5223) deepen students' understanding of complex user needs, while Professional Practice (IXD 5200) and Special Topics in UX Design 2 (UXD 5213) build industry readiness. In Semester 3, students complete a Field Experience in UX Design (UXD 5300) and a Capstone project (UXD 5310), where they apply their learning in real-world contexts, culminating in a professional portfolio. This program’s structure ensures that graduates are fully prepared to enter the UX industry with strong research, design, and collaboration skills.
