COURSE CURRICULUM

The Professional Accounting Practice graduate certificate program is structured across three semesters, offering a comprehensive curriculum designed to build foundational and advanced accounting knowledge. In the first semester, students engage in core courses such as Introductory Financial Accounting, Introductory Management Accounting, Microeconomics, Canadian Business Law, Corporate Finance 1, Statistics for Accounting, and Career Planning for Professional Accounting. These courses establish a solid base in accounting principles, business law, finance, and essential statistical analysis, alongside career development tailored for accounting professionals. The second semester delves deeper with Audit and Assurance 1, Personal Taxation, Intermediate Management Accounting, Corporate Finance 2, and two parts of Intermediate Financial Reporting, enhancing students’ understanding of auditing, taxation, financial management, and reporting skills. In the final semester, students advance their expertise through Audit and Assurance 2, Information Systems, Advanced Financial Reporting, Macroeconomics, Corporate Taxation, and Performance Management. This semester culminates in a Field Experience placement, providing practical, hands-on learning in a professional accounting environment. All courses are delivered in-person, fostering direct interaction with faculty and peers to maximize learning outcomes. This well-rounded, progressive curriculum prepares graduates to meet the demands of the accounting profession and equips them with the skills necessary to pursue the Chartered Professional Accountant designation successfully.
