COURSE CURRICULUM

The Insurance Management – Property and Casualty (P\&C) graduate certificate program at Humber provides a comprehensive curriculum that prepares students for diverse roles in the insurance sector. In Semester 1, students are introduced to core industry concepts through courses like Automobile Insurance – Part 1 (C14), Principles and Practices of Insurance (C11), and Insurance Against Liability – Part 1 (C13), offering foundational knowledge crucial for entry-level positions. They also develop essential business and communication skills in courses such as Insurance Marketing, Sales and Customer Service, Insurance Career Development, Project Management for Insurance Professionals, and Insurance Business Management and Leadership. In Semester 2, students build on this foundation with specialized courses including Accounting and Metrics for Insurance Professionals, Insurance on Property (C12), Essentials of Loss Adjusting (C110), and Underwriting Essentials (C120), which further deepen their understanding of underwriting, claims, and property insurance. Additional courses like Insurance Technology and Gateway to Commercial Insurance (C70) introduce students to technological advancements and commercial insurance practices, ensuring they are up to date with current industry standards and tools. The program concludes in Semester 3 with WORK 5520, a field experience course that offers students real-world exposure within the insurance industry, allowing them to apply their classroom knowledge in a practical setting. This combination of industry-recognized CIP courses, business skills, and hands-on experience makes graduates well-equipped to enter and grow in the dynamic P\&C insurance sector, with opportunities in underwriting, claims adjusting, brokerage, customer service, and risk management.
