The Advertising Art Direction (AAD) graduate certificate program at Humber is structured into three semesters, blending in-person, online, and hybrid learning formats to provide a comprehensive education in advertising art direction. In the first semester, students take foundational courses such as Art Direction for Specific Media (online), Radical Art Direction 1, Copywriting 101, Art Direction 101, Advertising Studio 1, Introduction to Advertising, and Creative Strategy, all delivered primarily in-person to build core skills. The second semester deepens this knowledge with courses like Persuasive Art Direction, Radical Art Direction 2 (online), Art Direction Concepts, Intensive Portfolio Development, Advertising Studio 2, and Professional Practice (online), focusing on advanced creative techniques and portfolio building essential for entering the industry. The final semester offers a Field Experience in Advertising - Art Direction, delivered in a hybrid format, providing hands-on industry experience and the opportunity to apply learned skills in real-world settings. This blend of theoretical learning, creative studio work, and practical field experience ensures students graduate with a strong portfolio and the professional readiness needed for entry-level art director roles. The program’s flexible delivery methods and emphasis on collaboration with copywriting students mimic real agency environments, preparing graduates to excel in today’s dynamic advertising industry.
