COURSE CURRICULUM

The Protection, Security and Investigation diploma program at Humber is structured over four semesters to provide comprehensive knowledge and practical skills essential for careers in security and investigation. In the first semester, students gain foundational understanding of the Canadian justice system, professional ethics, general investigations, Canadian law, and introductory psychology, alongside essential college reading and writing skills. The second semester covers topics such as Canadian border security, global crime, private investigations, conflict and stress management, and investigative interviewing, complemented by an introduction to arts and sciences. In the third semester, the focus shifts to risk and emergency management, online investigations, cybersecurity fundamentals, and tactical crime analysis, along with workplace writing skills and a general elective. The final semester offers advanced coursework in intelligence analysis, physical security systems, security management, experiential surveillance, investigative interviewing techniques, and advanced cybersecurity, plus a general elective. This carefully designed curriculum integrates theoretical and applied learning to prepare students for diverse roles in both the private and public security sectors, emphasizing ethical conduct, technological proficiency, and investigative expertise.
