COURSE CURRICULUM

The Photography diploma program at Humber is structured over four semesters, each designed to build students’ technical skills, creative abilities, and professional knowledge. In the first semester, students focus on foundational courses such as Post Production 1, Printing 1, Design and Visual Culture, History of Photography, Studio Portrait Techniques 1, Studio Production 1, and College Reading and Writing Skills. The second semester advances these skills with Post Production 2, History and Alternate Process, Video 1, Studio Production 2, Studio Portrait Techniques 2, an Introduction to Arts and Sciences, and Workplace Writing Skills. The third semester introduces Video 2, Professional Practice, Location Photography, Post Production 3, Illustrative Advertising, Editorial and Documentary, and a general elective, further enhancing creative and technical proficiency. In the final semester, students complete Post Production 4, Field Experience in Photography, Social Media and Marketing, Portfolio and Advanced Printing, Special Topics and Business in Contemporary Photography, Creative Studio, and a general elective. This comprehensive curriculum blends practical studio and fieldwork with critical theoretical understanding and business acumen, preparing graduates to excel in a wide range of photographic careers.
