COURSE CURRICULUM

The Occupational Therapist Assistant & Physiotherapist Assistant diploma program offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to prepare students for supporting clients in rehabilitation settings. In Semester 1, students are introduced to professional roles and responsibilities through courses such as Interprofessional Education, Health Systems, and Ethical Behaviors, alongside foundational anatomy and physiology, and communication skills. Semester 2 builds on this foundation with applied anatomy and physiology, ethical practice, and therapeutic communication, complemented by clinical simulation and initial therapeutic skills training for both OTA and PTA roles. In Semester 3, students deepen their understanding of mental health and neurological conditions, while gaining hands-on experience through intermediate fieldwork and advanced therapeutic skills courses focused on neurological and mental health presentations. The final semester emphasizes complex care, including cardiorespiratory and complex conditions, preparing students for professional practice with advanced therapeutic skills courses and pre-graduation field experience. Interprofessional education continues throughout, with a focus on ethical decision-making in healthcare teams. The program culminates with professional communication skills specific to OTA and PTA practice.
