COURSE CURRICULUM

The Law Clerk diploma program at Humber is structured across four semesters to provide students with a thorough and practical legal education. In the first semester, students are introduced to the foundations of law, including torts, contracts, Canada’s legal system, and essential productivity tools, alongside courses focused on legal writing and office procedures. The second semester builds on this foundation with courses in real estate law, legal research, proficiency in legal documents, litigation, and corporate law, while enhancing professional communication skills. During the third semester, students deepen their knowledge with advanced studies in real estate law, legal dockets and records management, further litigation and corporate law, as well as family law. Students also have the opportunity to select a general elective to broaden their academic experience. The final semester emphasizes hands-on learning through a field experience placement, allowing students to apply their skills in real legal environments. Additional courses focus on debtor and creditor law, estates, advanced litigation, and family law, preparing students for diverse legal roles. This comprehensive curriculum equips graduates with the necessary legal knowledge, procedural expertise, and professional skills to excel as valuable members of legal teams working under the supervision of lawyers in various settings such as law firms, corporate legal departments, and government offices.
