COURSE CURRICULUM

Humber’s Interior Decorating diploma program offers a comprehensive curriculum structured across four semesters, combining creative exploration with technical skill development. In Semester 1, students build a strong foundation through courses like Colour Theory and Application, Sketching Interiors, Drafting Interiors, and Design Fundamentals Studio, alongside technical reading and writing. Semester 2 deepens design knowledge with Interior Decorating Studio 2, History of Furniture, and Residential Finishes, while introducing computer drafting and reinforcing communication through workplace writing and a general elective. By Semester 3, students advance into more specialized areas with Interior Decorating Studio 3, Interior Styles, Computer Drafting 2, and Digital Communications 1, complemented by another general education elective. The final semester culminates with Interior Decorating Studio 4, where students showcase their design capabilities in comprehensive projects. Additional courses in Professional Business, Interior Systems, and Digital Communications 2 prepare students for the practical demands of the industry, from managing projects and client relationships to presenting their work using professional digital tools. Through hands-on studio courses, digital technology integration, and exposure to real-world trends and industry standards, students graduate with a versatile skill set and portfolio, ready to launch a career in residential design, staging, home décor retail, or freelance decorating.
