COURSE CURRICULUM

Humber’s Business Management – Financial Services diploma program offers a comprehensive curriculum that covers essential financial topics across four semesters. In the first semester, students are introduced to the economics of financial services, PC business essentials, interpersonal communications specific to financial services, financial products and services, the mathematics of finance, and college-level reading and writing skills. The second semester expands knowledge with courses on Canadian financial systems, accounting and insurance for financial services, consumer behaviour, and workplace writing skills, along with a general elective. During the third semester, students focus on Canadian investment securities, financial planning, consumer credit, career development, and professional selling, while also selecting a general elective. The final semester includes advanced topics such as Canadian investment securities II, practice management, bank systems and compliance, and further financial planning. Students also complete a field experience in financial services to apply their knowledge in a practical setting. An additional general elective allows for personalized learning. This structure ensures graduates are well-equipped with both the technical expertise and professional skills necessary for a successful career in the financial services industry.
