COURSE CURRICULUM

The Broadcast Television/Videography (BRTV) diploma at Humber is a four-semester, hands-on program designed to equip students with the technical and creative skills required for behind-the-scenes roles in television and media production. In Semester 1, students are introduced to core production elements including studio operations (BRTV 100), digital editing (BRTV 102), scriptwriting (BRTV 103), audio production (BRTV 104), camera and lighting (BRTV 106), and broadcast standards (BRTV 105), alongside general education (GNED 101) and program-specific writing (WRIT 105). Semester 2 builds on these skills with advanced training in editing (BRTV 152), scriptwriting (BRTV 153), audio (BRTV 154), production management (BRTV 155), and studio work (BRTV 160), complemented by professional communication (WRIT 205) and a general elective. In Semester 3, students dive deeper into camera/lighting (BRTV 202), editing (BRTV 203), audio (BRTV 204), production management (BRTV 205), and begin professional practice (BRTV 206) and live production (BRTV 207), with another elective option. Semester 4 focuses on applying industry knowledge through advanced broadcast standards (BRTV 251), live studio/remote production (BRTV 252), and a capstone Field Experience (WORK 262), where students work on real-world projects such as sports and event livestreams. The program ensures graduates are job-ready for dynamic media environments.
