COURSE CURRICULUM

The Plumbing Techniques certificate program is structured over two semesters, offering a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical skills to prepare students for careers in the plumbing trade. In Semester 1, students begin with PLBT 111: Theory 1, where they learn foundational plumbing concepts and principles. PLBT 112: Trade Documentation 1 focuses on reading and interpreting trade documents, blueprints, and plans, essential for accurate installation and repair work. PLBT 115: Shop 1 provides hands-on experience with plumbing tools and techniques in a controlled workshop environment. PLBT 116: Plumbing Systems 1 introduces the components and operation of basic plumbing systems, while PLBT 117: Trade Safety covers essential safety practices to ensure a secure working environment. TMTH 125: Essentials of Technical Mathematics supports students in developing the math skills needed for precise measurements and calculations in plumbing tasks. In Semester 2, students advance their knowledge with PLBT 211: Theory 2, which builds on the initial theory and explores more complex plumbing concepts. PLBT 212: Trade Documentation 2 continues to develop students’ ability to interpret detailed plumbing drawings and specifications. PLBT 214: Welding teaches basic welding techniques relevant to plumbing work. PLBT 215: Shop 2 offers further practical training in the workshop, reinforcing skills with more complex projects. PLBT 216: Plumbing Systems 2 covers advanced plumbing systems and applications. Finally, WRIT 108: College Reading and Writing Skills: Skilled Trades enhances students’ communication skills for effective workplace interaction and documentation. This comprehensive curriculum equips students with the knowledge and hands-on experience necessary to succeed in the plumbing trade or pursue further apprenticeship opportunities.
