COURSE CURRICULUM

The Electrical Techniques certificate program is structured over two semesters and offers a balanced combination of theoretical learning and hands-on experience to prepare students for entry-level roles in the electrical trade. In Semester 1, students begin with ELET 100: Electrical Theory 1, which introduces the fundamentals of electrical circuits and principles. ELET 102: Prints and Standards 1 helps students understand construction drawings and electrical schematics. ELET 104: Electrical Code 1 covers the Canadian Electrical Code, emphasizing safe and compliant electrical installations. ELET 106: Safety and Trade Practice 1 introduces essential safety protocols and practical trade skills, while ELET 108: Electronics explores the basics of electronic components and systems. TMTH 125: Essentials of Technical Mathematics supports students with the math skills necessary for success in electrical calculations and problem-solving. In Semester 2, students advance their knowledge with ELET 150: Electrical Theory 2, building on concepts learned in the first term. ELET 151: Prints and Standards 2 continues developing blueprint reading and interpretation skills. ELET 152: Electrical Code 2 deepens understanding of code applications in more complex scenarios. ELET 153: Safety and Trade Practices reinforces workplace safety and hands-on procedures. ELET 154: Instrumentation introduces measurement and control systems used in industrial settings. WRIT 108: College Reading and Writing Skills: Skilled Trades enhances students’ communication skills specific to technical environments. The program’s curriculum ensures a strong grasp of both technical knowledge and practical application, preparing students to confidently enter the electrical field or pursue further education in the skilled trades.
