COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Music degree program is structured over eight semesters, combining intensive music training with professional industry preparation. In Semester 1, students begin with core components such as Private Lesson 1 (MAJ 1100), Master Class 1 (MAS 1300), Music Ensemble 1 (MSB 1200), and foundational courses in History of Music (MUS 1000), Ear Training (MUS 1006), Functional Keyboard (MUS 1012), Music Improvisation (MUS 1016), and Music Theory (MUS 1018), along with one degree breadth elective. Semester 2 builds on this foundation with continued development in performance and theoretical skills, and adds Professional Practice (MUS 2020), plus Field Experience 1 (MUS 2505). Semesters 3 and 4 deepen musicianship through advanced ear training, improvisation, and theory, along with Critical Perspectives on Music (MUS 2008/2009) and Music Production Fundamentals (MUS 2014/2015), culminating in a second field experience (MUS 3500). In Semesters 5 and 6, students focus on creative development and production through Master Classes in Music Production (MUS 3004/3005) and Creative Development courses, alongside ensembles and electives. Semester 6 also includes Field Experience 3 (MUS 4505). The final year emphasizes career readiness with Business for Creative Industries (MUS 4002) and Marketing for Creative Industries (MUS 4003), alongside Directed Study Recording Projects (MUS 4004/4005), continuing private lessons, and a tailored selection of music and breadth electives. This intensive, hands-on curriculum ensures that graduates leave with both the artistic mastery and professional toolkit to thrive in the modern music industry.
