COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Health Sciences – Workplace Health and Wellness program at Humber is designed to provide a comprehensive and multidisciplinary education, combining bioscience, leadership, mental and physical health, business, and communication. In the first semester, students build foundational knowledge with courses like Introduction to Health and Wellness, Biology for Health Sciences, and Interprofessional Education exploring professional roles. As they progress, they engage with topics such as Changing Behaviour, Global and Environmental Health, Anatomy and Physiology, and Communications for Health Science. The curriculum deepens through courses focused on Functional Anatomy, Physical Activity, Health Literacy, Nutrition, and Ethical and Legal Issues in Health and Wellness, preparing students to understand wellness across the lifespan. In the later semesters, students study Health and Wellness in Organizations, Mental Health and Well-Being, Statistics and Analytics, and develop business acumen through The Business Case and Marketing in Health and Wellness. Advanced coursework includes Applied Epidemiology, Interprofessional Practice, Digital Innovations, and Professional Practice, supplemented by field experience to apply knowledge in real-world settings. In the final year, students undertake capstone projects, focusing on reflection, accessibility, project coordination, wellness coaching, and knowledge translation, culminating in a comprehensive understanding of workplace health and wellness. Throughout the program, degree breadth electives and interprofessional education enhance collaborative skills, critical thinking, and communication, equipping graduates to design, implement, and lead effective health and wellness initiatives in diverse organizational environments. This program fosters the development of practical skills and strategic thinking necessary to promote healthy workplaces and improve employee well-being.
