COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Film and Media Production program offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to develop both practical skills and theoretical knowledge necessary for a successful career in the film and media industry. In the first semester, students begin with foundational courses such as writing and media cultures, visual storytelling, and visual communications, alongside degree breadth electives. The second semester builds on these skills with production essentials, screenwriting, film studies focusing on history and ideology, and a foundations for success course, complemented by an elective. By the third semester, students further develop their artistry with advanced film and media practice, screenwriting, Canadian film studies, and research methods, again with an elective. The fourth semester focuses on technical skills such as cinematography, sound, picture editing, fiction film development, production management, and directing drama. In the fifth semester, the program emphasizes nonfiction film development and professional practice, along with electives in film and media and core skills. The sixth semester includes nonfiction film production, major project development, entertainment law and ethics, additional electives, and a mandatory field experience to gain real-world industry exposure. The seventh semester features a capstone project, advanced film and media theory, and further electives to deepen knowledge and specialization. In the final semester, students complete the media entrepreneurship course, finalize their capstone project, participate in career preparation and industry seminars, and take one more elective. This program ensures students graduate with a balanced blend of creative, technical, and professional skills, ready to excel in various roles within the film and media production field.
