COURSE CURRICULUM

The Sport Management advanced diploma program at Humber is structured to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the sport industry through six semesters of focused coursework and practical experience. In the first semester, foundational courses such as Introduction to Sport Management, Sport Business Professional, Sport Programming, Leadership Experience, and Customer Service Excellence build essential skills. The second semester expands knowledge with courses in Sociology of Sport, Financial Management, Sport Organizations in Canada, Sport Marketing, and Workplace Writing Skills. The third semester introduces Risk Management, Sport Event Management, Human Resources Management, Facility Operations, and Public and Media Relations, alongside a general elective. In the fourth semester, students explore Program Software for Sport, League and Tournament Management, Sporting Goods Administration, Sport Tourism, Career Development, and Ethics in Sports. The fifth semester focuses on Sports Sponsorship and Fundraising, Sport Research Methods, Advanced Sales, Entrepreneurship, and a Field Experience to apply practical skills. The final semester offers Principles of Sport Business, a Sport Research Project, Digital Marketing and Communications, Advanced Leadership and Organizational Behaviour, and a second Field Experience to prepare students for successful careers. This blend of theoretical knowledge and hands-on learning ensures graduates are well-equipped to manage various aspects of the sport business effectively.
