COURSE CURRICULUM

Humber’s Film and Television Production program is structured over six semesters to provide comprehensive hands-on training across all facets of the industry. In the first semester, students build foundational skills with courses in scriptwriting, frame-by-frame animation, sound theory, cinematography, and picture editing, alongside essential reading and writing skills tailored to film and TV. The second semester deepens these competencies with advanced scriptwriting, cinematography, sound practice, graphic design, and production coordination, combined with professional communication training. Semester three continues to enhance editing, directing, production coordination, and scriptwriting skills, while introducing students to film and TV direction and further sound theory, supported by a general arts and sciences elective. In the fourth semester, students focus on production coordination and business practices, selecting electives to specialize their learning alongside general electives. The fifth semester emphasizes professional practice and advanced production coordination, with elective courses allowing for deeper exploration of specific film and TV topics. The final semester culminates in extensive production coordination experience and a field placement, providing real-world industry exposure, along with selected topics in production and general electives. This comprehensive curriculum equips students with technical expertise, industry knowledge, and practical experience, preparing them to excel in the evolving media landscape.
