COURSE CURRICULUM

The Civil Engineering Technology advanced diploma program at Humber provides a robust and practical education in civil infrastructure design and construction. In the first semester, students build foundational skills in surveying, drafting, engineering design, physics, statics, and technical mathematics. The second semester deepens technical knowledge through courses in construction methods, fluid mechanics, material strengths, and advanced drafting, along with continued math and professional communication training. By the third semester, students explore material testing, engineering analysis, building codes, and advanced surveying techniques while being introduced to general education for broader learning. In the fourth semester, the focus shifts to construction administration, soil mechanics, water supply operations, and BIM for civil engineering. Students also gain insight into infrastructure rehabilitation and GIS. The fifth semester offers advanced specialization with structural analysis, municipal services, steel and timber design, environmental engineering, highway technology, and geotechnology, providing a comprehensive understanding of modern infrastructure systems. The sixth and final semester emphasizes real-world applications with courses in construction administration management, reinforced concrete design, municipal services, and transportation systems. Students complete a capstone technical project and select civil and general electives to tailor their learning. This integrated curriculum, developed with industry input, ensures graduates are prepared for careers in civil engineering with practical skills in design, drafting, surveying, materials testing, project management, and sustainable infrastructure development.
